Dave Daubenmire, a conservative pastor with extreme right-wing viewpoints, advocated arresting Hillary Clinton during his Thursday morning webcast on his “Pass The Salt” online program.
Daubenmire, a former high school coach who got his start in politics, according to Forbes, after he was sued for forcing athletes to pray with him at games, said he plans to lead a protest outside the Clintons’ home in Chappaqua, New York, over the Memorial Day weekend.
On May 26, Daubenmire and his supporters will take part in a “March for Equal Justice,” where they’ll demand that President Donald Trump issue a call to arrest Clinton, per reporting from Right Wing Watch.
“Let’s lock ’em up,” Daubenmire said on his webcast, echoing a Trump campaign rallying cry from 2016. “Let’s lock ’em up and let’s let ’em know they’re not above the law, they’re not above God, and drive them to their knees and they’ll meet Jesus.”
Daubenmire argued that it was necessary to arrest Clinton because not doing so would be an affront to God.
“It dishonors our Lord if we let Hillary Clinton be declared not guilty and she ain’t even been tried,” Daubenmire said. “That’s spitting in the face of God.”
Daubenmire may be forgetting that Clinton faced intense scrutiny from House Republicans during the Benghazi hearings. That investigation cost over $7.8 million, and took two-and-a-half years to complete, according to USA Today. In the end, the Republican-led investigation found no charges with which to place against her.
Daubenmire is also inconsistent in his views regarding those who actually do commit crimes. For instance, he celebrated when Rep. Greg Gianforte (R-Montana), then a candidate for office, slammed a reporter to the ground at a campaign event, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center.
“The only thing that is going to save Western civilization is a more aggressive, a more violent Christianity,” Daubenmire said at the time.
